ALOHA MUSIC ACADEMY at the KAHILU THEATRE a Great Success!

Waimea, Hawai'i - We had a blast at our 6th annual Aloha Music Academy spring break workshop on the Big Island!  This year, the week-long session was co-presented by the Aloha Bluegrass Band and the incredible Kahilu Theatre in Waimea, where the workshop took place.  Over 40 kids from all over the Big Island learned new skills and instruments, honed their talents at songwriting, arts & crafts, and made new friendships based on a love of music.  What a great week!

We had an amazing summer tour in Alaska!  Great shows, incredible people, inspiring students, unmatched beauty, and best of all - fresh Copper River salmon!  While it's hard to pick a single highlight of the tour, the Salmonstock Festival, produced by the Renewable Resources Coalition, was hard to beat.  While we jammed with our friends Larry & Jenny Keel, Peter Rowan, Vince Herman and Leftover Salmon, we knew all the while that our efforts were helping to stop the disastrous Pebble Mine proposal.  Good news on that front - one of the mine's major financial backers withdrew their support this summer!!  Read more about it here.
